DESCRIPTION:

Since 1997, Maurice de Mandelare has cultivated the ten hectares of his vineyard biodynamically. Certified Demeter and Ecocert, the Bas-Armagnacs he produces are in his image, sincere and jovial. Particularly fruity, delicately floral, and deliciously rustic, the aromatic and gustatory palette of this version also shines with the finesse of its touch, which is reminiscent in more ways than one of the greatest malts of Speyside: Linkwood. Rich, balanced. Candied citrus fruits, pepper, star anise

TASTING NOTES:

Nose:Rich, full. Marked by candied citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit) and notes of rice cake, the initial nose is remarkable for its herbaceous freshness (vine flower, bay leaf). After aeration, whole bunches of grapes are poured into the conquest of reception to be destemmed. Then, scents of linden honey and lavender blend in depth with spices (pepper, cloves, star anise). Exotic fruits (kaffir lime, roasted pineapple) beautifully punctuate the first stage of the tasting.

Appearance:Deep old gold.

Palate:Tender, balanced. Slightly empyreumatic (eucalyptus, cedar), the attack on the palate is delicious vanilla (custard), resinous, and balsamic (pine cone). Rustic (dandelion, clay), the mid-palate reveals a particularly fine grain (rice powder). At this moment, the resemblance to a beautiful Linkwood is striking. Flowery (daisy, honeysuckle), the aftertaste is also rooty (gentian, genepi).

Overall:Long, suave. Full of energy, the start of the finish reveals flavors of tobacco and grated ginger. A nice herbaceous bitterness (cut hay, alfalfa) brings a lot of freshness to the very end of the mouth. Chocolatey, camphorated, and vegetal (chamomile), the retro-olfaction reveals flavors of wax and candied lemons. The empty glass is chocolatey, spicy (ginger, cinnamon), and vanilla all at the same time. Very pleasant salinity.
